How Does a Knife Haggler Handle an Online Credit Card Thief?
Category:I hate thieves, but what can you do about it?
Today, I received a chargeback on my merchant account in the amount of $155.40. This means that the bank that issued this credit card is refusing to cover this transaction, and I, the vendor must pay this amount.
So, I have to pay back the $155.40 plus the cost of the items purchased from my store online.
This is frustrating for me as I’ve done almost everything I can to protect myself against those that use stolen credit cards to purchase online.
So, I have to make the rules even stricter for purchasing online.
Upon speaking with the authorities, I have been informed that a report can be filed, and they will look into it. This is cop-speak for, “Your report will be taken and filed… that’s it, good luck to ya.”
Law enforcement can’t waist its time on things like this. They must ramp up and prepare to enforce the new OSHA laws. (A little joke referencing my prior entry…OSHA Moves to Regulate Ammuntion, the Dangerous “Explosive”)
How do vendors handle the Internet?
I guess as a vendor, you have to also be skilled at dealing with long distance thieves. If only I could meet face-to-face with one of these credit card stealing thieves. I’m sure, the OSHA police would probably arrest me for being too “explosive”.
Anyway, lesson learned.
