Public Education is Staffed With Idiots

* If you are a public education employee, and are not an idiot, please exlcude yourself from the accusation of the title.

I read the following article this morning, State must not write off students in the Houston Chronicle. I shake my head when I hear about school systems reacting ridiculously to things such as unregistered inhalers, or students bringing pencil sharpeners to school, or a little girl writing “I love Alex” on the wall or other things that kids do.

The problem is our school system is staffed with idiots these days. I don’t mean to stereotype, but I’m not going to pull punches either. The majority of teachers are undereducated Knife Haggler School of Thoughtand lack much, if any, common sense. Their ability to handle situations that may take a bit of effort and sense is lacking.

I can’t just pick on teachers either. The school system administration and top employees are also lacking in much sense at all. They base their decisions on personal opinions and political agendas. They refuse to institute discipline preferring to target children that are innocent instead of targeting children that are true troublemakers.

What happened to a good sound paddling in school?

We know that many parents refuse to discipline their children. Unfortunately, parents drop their kids off at school and stick their heads in the dirt to ignore any and all problems. School is what many parents consider their escape from the kids. They could care less about education as they lack it themselves.

My solution.

If a student writes on the wall at school, the parents should be immediately fined $100. One parent and the child would be required by law to show up at the school after classes are out and clean the graffiti. The student is also spanked.

If a student does not register an asthma or medication with the school, the student should be escorted to the office where the medication is verified and registered. Simple.

A student refuses to follow the dress code. The student is expelled and the parents are fined $100 daily until the student meets the code and returns to school.

A student brings a weapon to school. The parents are fined $5,000. The weapon is confiscated. The student spends the remainder of the school year in a “trouble-makers” class where a teacher and a police officer are present.

A student uses profanity. He or she is spanked.

A student chews gum in class. He or she is ordered to spit it out. Problem solved.

A student refuses to obey a rule or order given by a teacher. The student is spanked.

A student skips class. The student is spanked and parents are notified.

Continuing violations will result in the student being placed in the “trouble-makers” classroom and continued spankings and fines issued as necessary.

Unfortunately, and historically speaking, schools have very few employees who are capable of enforcing rules such as these. The schools also lack individuals that understand or process sensible punishments and guidelines. So, to render this, a police officer should be posted in every school to act as a constable of sorts. He/ she will be the judge and jury for crimes and violations committed at school.

The school constable will be compensated by fines rendered against parents who do not discipline their children and expect the school system to do so. These fines will be a payment for services rendered to these incompetent parents.

The “trouble-makers” classroom will also be monitored by a police officer and a teacher. The parents of every student in this class will pay a daily admission fee of $10 to cover the cost of the police officer and the need to provide this extra monitoring of their undisciplined child.

Any student who continues to violate the above rules will be sent to a military style boot camp. This boot camp will not be governed by silly rules preventing the drill sergeants from disciplining their children. The parents will pay an admission fee of $25 per day for their child to be present. Being that the parents chose not to discipline and teach their children, they will be required to pay someone else to do it.

Parents who fail or refuse to pay any fines or admissions will spend their days in jail and working on community service projects, such as sweeping sidewalks, maintaining city parks and such at the rate of $7 per hour to pay these fees.

This system will not only produce half-decent children at some point, it will motivate parents to discipline their children. It will also remove problem students from classes so that disciplined students can learn.

This system, or one like it, will certainly never work. Why you ask? Because, some idiot will feel that this is too harsh.
